League of Legends: Alternative Vayne Build

So, League of Legends is pretty much the only game I play in my free time. I discovered it when it was at the end of its first season. This was four years ago. Since then I have plyed and even more watched LoL, following the professional growing competitive scene, Youtube channels and streams.

Since my internet isn´t that great, I´m not really able to play Ranked, but I enjoy Normals quite a lot. I´m definitly not a overwhelmingly great player (probably around Gold level, on certain champs and with good internet maybe Platinum).
I play a variety of champions, and recently I find myself with almost no problems in any matchup, being able to secure a positive K-D-ratio nearly every game.
I also have fun trying out new builds, and I wanted to share one I came up with. This one is for Vayne, chmapion which I sucked so hard with at first, that I considered never playing her again.

Vayne

the Night Hunter

But I eventually got the hang of it. I figured out that my biggest problem was being to squishy. Normally I have no problems with that, but Vaynes low range and difficult, unforgiving playstyle made it hard for me. The solution to this problem was altering my build.
So her´s how I play and build my Vayne. (Notice that I almost exclusivly play 3vs3 and ARAM)

Starting Items

Dorans Blade

Cost: 440

+70 Health
+7 Attack Damage
+3% Life Steal

Boots of Speed

Cost: 325

Limited to 1.
UNIQUE Passive - Enhanced Movement: +25 Movement Speed

(Unique Passives with the same name don't stack.)

Health Pot

Cost: 35

Limited to 5 at one time.
Restores 150 Health over 15 seconds.

I think, this should be clear. Standard Stuff. No explanation needed.

Item Path

Blade of the Ruined King

Cost: 3200

+25 Attack Damage
+40% Attack Speed
+10% Life Steal

UNIQUE Passive: Basic attacks deal 8% of the target's current Health in bonus physical damage (max 60 vs. monsters and minions) on hit.
UNIQUE Active: Deals 10% of target champion's maximum Health (min. 100) as physical damage, heals for the same amount, and steals 25% of the target's Movement Speed for 3 seconds (90 second cooldown).

Berserker´s Greaves

Cost: 1000

+25% Attack Speed
UNIQUE Passive - Enhanced Movement: +45 Movement Speed
(Unique Passives with the same name don't stack.)

Frozen Mallet

Cost: 3300

+700 Health
+30 Attack Damage

UNIQUE Passive - Icy: Basic attacks slow the target's Movement Speed for 1.5 seconds on hit (40% slow for melee attacks, 30% slow for ranged attacks).
(Unique Passives with the same name don't stack.)

Runaan´s Hurrican

Cost: 2500

+70% Attack Speed
UNIQUE Passive: When basic attacking, bolts are fired at up to 2 enemies near the target, each dealing (50% of Attack Damage) physical damage. These bolts apply on-hit effects.
UNIQUE Passive: Basic attacks deal an additional 10 physical damage on hit.

Thornmail

Cost: 2100

+100 Armor
UNIQUE Passive: Upon being hit by a basic attack, returns 30% of the incoming damage (before being reduced by defenses) to the attacker as magic damage.

Banshee´s Veil

Cost: 2750

+450 Health
+55 Magic Resist
+100% Base Health Regeneration

UNIQUE Passive: Grants a spell shield that blocks the next enemy ability. This shield refreshes after no damage is taken from enemy champions for 40 seconds.

So, this is the full build I like to go with. The first two items are still standard. Blade and Berserker´s are a necessity on Vayne. Blade is a item made for Vayne, since it gives her everything she needs: Damage, lifesteal, attackspeed, a great active and passive. The boots amplify this very well.
But now is where the new part begins. Frozen Mallet. Not a very common item at all. Almost nobody builds it, because it´s very
cost-inefficient. I agree with that. But this build is made for a solo-lane Vayne. Toplane you should be able to be far enough ahead of your opponent to build this. The slow is also great against juggernauts, which are very popular and strong at the moment.
The next item is also a unusual one: Runaan´s Hurrican. Attackspeed is the most important stat on Vayne, because the faster you proc her W, the more true damage she deals. Her W is the reason this build functions so well. And Runaan´s gives an awful lot of attackspeed. Also, the passives makes up for Vaynes´ lack of waveclear and AoE. but not only that. It also applies the slow of Frozen Mallet on all three bolts, giving Vayne her much needed ability to kite, especially in teamfights.
The rest of the build is straight tankiness. Since she has her W, Vayne has enough damage and can build tanky, which was the key factor for me when theorycrafting this build.
This build is behind in damage compared to a normal ADC Vayne. But when completed it´s so strong and fun to play.
Of course you can alter the defensive options in the build, depending on the enemy teamcomp and the course of the game. Other items that would be possible are Guardian Angel, Randuin´s Omen, Frozen Heart, Maw of Malmortius or even a Last Whisper for more damage.
The negative side of this build is, that it takes some time to build and ramp up, since the items only fully work in combination. Also you need to have a good composition and a bit of luck with opponents. but these are things every champ has to face.

I hope someone is interested in this kind of content. I really enjoyed writitng this and hopefully you do aswell. Tell me how you like it :)

Interrail Episode 1: Venice

Travelling

Mean of Transport: Train. Obviously. But I´m meantioning it anyway, because then ther´s more text and I seem so much more professional.

Stops and Stages: Ratisbon - Munich - Verona - Venice
(Original Plan was to go from Munich to Venice directly, but shitty Deutsche Bahn ruined it by delaying our arrival in Munich by just enough to make us miss the next train.)

Overall Traveltime: About 9 hours.

Hostel

Name: Hotel Airone.

Location: Right across the train staion. Only one canal in between.

Room:
  • Very small
  • A bit creepy at first (when you enter at night)
  • Weird walls covered cloth
  • Stunning view out of the window, which has some incredibly stylish shutters
  • Shower right in the middle of the bathroom

Breakfast: Outside in a nice garden. Standard food. Overall nothing to complain about.

Rating: 3,5/5 Rialto-Bridges

City

Highlights:

Piazza San Marco
Biggest plaza of Venice. Absurdly crowded. Nice architectural design around it. Has an open side to the sea, where Gondolas arrive and get off in a neverending cycle. Home of the famous lion.

Rialto-Bridge
There are a ton of bridges in Venice, but this one is the most famous abd also one of the biggest. Also a tourist-magnet, so once again loads and loads of people everywhere. Little stores directly on the bridge (seems a bit like a sellout of such a famous and culturally relevant piece of architecture).

Canale Grande
The Rialto of the many canals of Venice: biggest and most famous. Sometimes so big, it almost could be a river. A very dirty river. Main "traffic route" of Venice, kind of like a highway.

Weather

Hot. Way to hot. When I got off the train, I felt like running into a wall facefirst. And it stayed this way. There was not a single moment where the temperature dropped below 30° Celsius, even at night. It is pretty nice to feel the mediterran heat, but it gets annoying and frustrating after a while. Especially at daytime, you can not stay out in the sun for long. No rain of course.

Summary

Venice is a beautiful city. I love the fact that there are no cars. It makes the streets pretty crowded, because everyone has to walk, but nonetheless is it a nice and refreshing experience. The architecture of all the buildings is gorgeous, like all mediterran cities are. I feel like the light there is much more golden, presenting everything in a nicer way.
But there is also a darker side to Venice. I have never seen more poor people and immigrants trying to sell things and begging for money in such a small area than there. A hard contrast to the situation in Germany.
Also, pigeons. Pigeons everywhere.

Interrail 2015 - Introduction

I recently finished school. What do you do after you finish school?
You go as far away from it as possible. You travel around. Explore the world. Have fun. Enjoy your freedom.
So here´s what I did. This will be the epic tale of an unprecedented adventure. A modern version of the Odyssee, just with less problems, shorter and witout boats. But nevertheless epic, heroic and tense.

My girlfriend an me decided to do an Interrail-Trip. The Interrail Global-Pass allows you to travel around in Europe by train with one ticket. In some cases you have to buy a reservation, but overall you just need that one ticket. We decided to buy the one for 22 days. There are also other options (click here for further information).

Once we had pinned that down, we went on to prepare the other things.

1 Planning the route
We planned the route for our trip. This took up some time, because we initially thought of going to Spain (Madrid and Barcelona) after we finished Italy as first country, but the train connections down there seem to be very bad and really slow. It would have been just travelling instead of really being anywhere. So we cut that out and laid our route directly to France after our last Italian stop, Milano.
Also London was high on our "Must-Visit-List". At first. Then we discovered that we´d have to pay nearly 250 Euros each for only the train to London. The same amount for the train from London to the next stop. Pretty ridiculous, especially with the budget of a poor teenager. So London got cut out aswell. But we already knew our stops before and after that (Paris and Amsterdam) and decided to visit Brussls instead.
The final route looked like this:

  1. Venice (01/07 - 03/07)
  2. Rome (03/07 - 05/07)
  3. Florence (05/07 - 07/07)
  4. Milano (07/07 - 08/07)
  5. Nice (08/07 - 10/07)
  6. Marseille (10/07 - 12/07)
  7. Lyon (12/07 - 14/07)
  8. Paris (14/07 - 17/07)
  9. Brussels (17/07 - 20/07)
  10. Amsterdam (20/07 - 22/07)

Our route
(I had to screenshot this map and draw the route myself because Google Maps doesn´t support more than 10 waypoints for some absurd reason)

It´s mostly Italy and France, but that was already our first plan, so we were fine with that.

Planning the stays
We decided I´d would be the best, if we spent our nights in youth hostels. They are in every bigger city, sometimes even two or more and they are fairly cheap. We registered ourself in the Hostelling-International network. If you are under 26 years of age the membership costs you 7 Euros per year. In most countries we visited, a membership was obligatory for staying in the hostels. You can get them directly in the hostels or order it at home before your trip. Membership-prices are a bit cheaper, it will make up for the 7 Euros easily.

The membershipcard from Hostelling Internationa

We also had to book regular hotels in Venice and Milano, because we were late and the youth hostels were already booked out for the time of our stay. But it wasn´t much trouble, the booking process was equally comfortable.

Packaging
When you go on an epic adventure like we did, you need something to transport your stuff. For us, the best option was to get a backpack. A really big backpack. You get pretty good advice on what you really need in specialised shops, like sportshops. I bought my backpack here.

And, I gotta say it was the perfect choice. All of my stuff fit in easily (I even had space left), it was a great feeling when having it on and you don´t ever have to worry about your damn suitcase being to big or losing on of those tiny wheels and having to carry it in a very uncomfortable way afterwards.

Another great thing I took with me was a smaller backpack, which you can fold in itself to make it transportable requiring very little space. You can use this for daily trips to cities, so you don´t always have to carry all your stuff with you, but still can bring a bottle of water and a rainjacket. One of the best gadgets you can get for a journey like this.

For clothes, I think I was fine. I had enough of everything. But that is all personal preference.
What else did I take with me? Smartphone, camera, MP3-Player, powerchargers, some cash of course, stuff for hygiene and health. Also make sure to bring your ID, very important.

So, yeah, that was the preparation for the trip. Easy as pie. Not really in reality, especially if it´s your first time doing such a long trip for yourself. But it´s a very useful experience, you leran a lot about organizing different things at a time, dealing with customer service and planning something, that won´t work out the way you imagined it. You have to really pt some work into it, but then finally everything will be done and you can be very proud and just enjoy the awesome trip.
Which will bring up new problems.
But that is subject to future posts.
Stay tuned!

Shia LaBeouf just does it

Shia LaBeouf has recently become my favourite celebrity. For a few reasons. I just wanted to talk about how Shia attracted my attention and why I find him to be the most interesting celebrity.

The first note of Shia LaBeouf I took was from the "Transformer"-movies. When I watched them as a young teenager I had a ton of fun. Shia was hailed as THE upcoming actor. I personally lost track of him soon afterwards, because I wasn´t that much into movies back then. I heard of some scandals Shia had, but I wasn´t really interested or upset.
Now, the first time I regognized Shia LaBeouf as a polarizing and interesting personality in recent times was when I watched a video on Youtube about him. It´s more or less a music video. The song is called "Actual Cannibal Shia LaBeouf" and was created by Rob Cantor, who I had subscribed to before and think of as a pure genius.

I loved the video from the beginning. It´s one of the most random things I have ever seen. And one of the most funny, hilarious and genius ones. Watch it and you will understand. Until today I probably watched it about a hundred times. I even used it as my "themesong" at my graduation. Shia himself has a short appearance at the end, and this scene was proof for me, that Shia LaBeouf has a great sense of humour.
But that was only the beginning. The next thing Shia surprised me with was his appearance on the "Jimmy Kimmel Show". He was invited as a guest and told the story of how he got into jail. And this story, combined with the way Shia narrated it, was pants down the funniest thing I´ve seen all year. Just absurd.

I started to realise how crazy and reckless this person really is.
I love it when people don´t give a damn about anything, and Shia is the person who does it.
I already loved the man at that stage, but he didn´t stop. The next thing he did was his motivational speech, which instantly went viral. This thing is even more random than the stuff he did before.

Who does such things?! Nobody. Except Shia LaBeouf. I mean, just look at him, shouting "JUST DO IT!" in front of a greenscreen, looking like a hobo on drugs. After that video I fully realized that Shia LaBeouf is one crazy motherfucker. And I also realized that I love it. He doesn´t give a single fuck. He seemingly doesn´t care about his appearance, about his image or reputation. Or he does and it´s all just one clever plan. Who knows?
Over to the thing that made me write this post.

Nothing more to say.
Just...Shia LaBeouf.
Thank you, Shia, and keep going!

I love you, Shia!

My Pen

I just passed my Abitur, the diploma you get for finishing the Gymnasium. I guess it´s kind of the same or atleast an equivalent to highschool. More or less a pretty big deal, so to say.
While preapring for the finals, my father recieved an advertising gift at work. It came from Lamy, a producer of quality office products. The present contained a drop action pencil and a pen. My dad forgot the pen at work, and only brought home the pencil. He wanted to give it to me in order to use it in my finals. I said I didn´t have any use for it, the pen was to fragile. So my dad jokingly said, if I got a final grade of 1,3 (which is like very good and seem nearly unreachable at that time), he would gift me the missing pen, something I realistically would use. Neither of us expected me to reach that goal, so it was more or less a joke for a short time.
About two months later I was through my finals and about to get my final grades. The teacher handing me out the certificate asked what I was hoping for. 1,6, I said. He smiled. When I looked at the paper I first couldn´t believe it. I knew I did alright in the finals, but I actually did really, really well. In fact, I did so well I achieved a grade of 1,3!
I seldom was so happy. It took me a while to realise, but when I got home and told my mother I got fully excited. I immediately called my dad at work. He was just as baffeld as I had been soon before.
don´t think, he showed that much emotions in front of me ever before that. I could definitely tell how proud he was. I reminded him of the pen. My dad laughed, saying he couldn´t give me any guarantee that he would find it. But when he came home that evening he actually brought the freaking pen with him. But not only that. My dad, as awesome as he is, offered to print something on it. With lasers! He said, he could arrange it so that he would be able to use the technology at his workplace to do so. I was hyped. I´m 18 years old now, but my dad writing something on my well-deserved pen with lasers was just way to cool! I told him to write "42" onto it. 42 is my favourite number and also my motto in life (maybe I´ll write something about it later. Pretty sure, actually :D ), so it fit perfectly.
Today I recieved the finished pen. With the laser-written 42 on it!
And...it´s beautiful. I love it! Thanks so much, Dad!
Other people get a lot of money, a smartphone or even a car for doing well in their finals. I got a pen, and i couldn´t be happier about it. One of the best presents I ever recieved!

My awesome pen!
