League of Legends: Alternative Vayne Build



So, League of Legends is pretty much the only game I play in my free time. I discovered it when it was at the end of its first season. This was four years ago. Since then I have plyed and even more watched LoL, following the professional growing competitive scene, Youtube channels and streams.




Since my internet isn´t that great, I´m not really able to play Ranked, but I enjoy Normals quite a lot. I´m definitly not a overwhelmingly great player (probably around Gold level, on certain champs and with good internet maybe Platinum). 
I play a variety of champions, and recently I find myself with almost no problems in any matchup, being able to secure a positive K-D-ratio nearly every game. 
I also have fun trying out new builds, and I wanted to share one I came up with. This one is for Vayne, chmapion which I sucked so hard with at first, that I considered never playing her again.

But I eventually got the hang of it. I figured out that my biggest problem was being to squishy. Normally I have no problems with that, but Vaynes low range and difficult, unforgiving playstyle made it hard for me. The solution to this problem was altering my build. 
So her´s how I play and build my Vayne. (Notice that I almost exclusivly play 3vs3 and ARAM)

Starting Items



Dorans Blade

Cost: 440

+70 Health
+7 Attack Damage
+3% Life Steal





Boots of Speed

Cost: 325

Limited to 1.
UNIQUE Passive - Enhanced Movement: +25 Movement Speed

(Unique Passives with the same name don't stack.)




Health Pot

Cost: 35

Limited to 5 at one time.
Restores 150 Health over 15 seconds.




I think, this should be clear. Standard Stuff. No explanation needed.



Item Path



Blade of the Ruined King

Cost: 3200

+25 Attack Damage
+40% Attack Speed
+10% Life Steal

UNIQUE Passive: Basic attacks deal 8% of the target's current Health in bonus physical damage (max 60 vs. monsters and minions) on hit.
UNIQUE Active: Deals 10% of target champion's maximum Health (min. 100) as physical damage, heals for the same amount, and steals 25% of the target's Movement Speed for 3 seconds (90 second cooldown).





Berserker´s Greaves

Cost: 1000

+25% Attack Speed
UNIQUE Passive - Enhanced Movement: +45 Movement Speed
(Unique Passives with the same name don't stack.)





Frozen Mallet

Cost: 3300

+700 Health
+30 Attack Damage

UNIQUE Passive - Icy: Basic attacks slow the target's Movement Speed for 1.5 seconds on hit (40% slow for melee attacks, 30% slow for ranged attacks).
(Unique Passives with the same name don't stack.)





Runaan´s Hurrican

Cost: 2500

+70% Attack Speed
UNIQUE Passive: When basic attacking, bolts are fired at up to 2 enemies near the target, each dealing (50% of Attack Damage) physical damage. These bolts apply on-hit effects.
UNIQUE Passive: Basic attacks deal an additional 10 physical damage on hit.





Thornmail

Cost: 2100

+100 Armor 
UNIQUE Passive: Upon being hit by a basic attack, returns 30% of the incoming damage (before being reduced by defenses) to the attacker as magic damage.





Banshee´s Veil

Cost: 2750

+450 Health
+55 Magic Resist
+100% Base Health Regeneration 

UNIQUE Passive: Grants a spell shield that blocks the next enemy ability. This shield refreshes after no damage is taken from enemy champions for 40 seconds.




So, this is the full build I like to go with. The first two items are still standard. Blade and Berserker´s are a necessity on Vayne. Blade is a item made for Vayne, since it gives her everything she needs: Damage, lifesteal, attackspeed, a great active and passive. The boots amplify this very well.
But now is where the new part begins. Frozen Mallet. Not a very common item at all. Almost nobody builds it, because it´s very 
cost-inefficient. I agree with that. But this build is made for a solo-lane Vayne. Toplane you should be able to be far enough ahead of your opponent to build this. The slow is also great against juggernauts, which are very popular and strong at the moment.
The next item is also a unusual one: Runaan´s Hurrican. Attackspeed is the most important stat on Vayne, because the faster you proc her W, the more true damage she deals. Her W is the reason this build functions so well. And Runaan´s gives an awful lot of attackspeed. Also, the passives makes up for Vaynes´ lack of waveclear and AoE. but not only that. It also applies the slow of Frozen Mallet on all three bolts, giving Vayne her much needed ability to kite, especially in teamfights.
The rest of the build is straight tankiness. Since she has her W, Vayne has enough damage and can build tanky, which was the key factor for me when theorycrafting this build.
This build is behind in damage compared to a normal ADC Vayne. But when completed it´s so strong and fun to play.
Of course you can alter the defensive options in the build, depending on the enemy teamcomp and the course of the game. Other items that would be possible are Guardian Angel, Randuin´s Omen, Frozen Heart, Maw of Malmortius or even a Last Whisper for more damage.
The negative side of this build is, that it takes some time to build and ramp up, since the items only fully work in combination. Also you need to have a good composition and a bit of luck with opponents. but these are things every champ has to face.
